Good work

I always have been a fan of your music, again this is a good piece. Altho I think when using headphones the punchy kick that comes on at 2.24 is a tad overpowered. It kinda removes the ambience that you build up so nicely.

Yeah it was supposed to add a massive contrast lol. Thanks duba :D btw heard your new stuff.. fantastic.

I heard it is a good game.

I always have a lot of respect for these orchestral tracks. Its the only thing I can't work with.

I like the fast strings. They give it a war feeling. You did a good job on percussion. All the instruments are in harmony.

Mastering
I think the flute is a tad to loud. When I plugg in the headphone it kinda hurts. ( my headphone is way too loud, that could be it ).
Great job on panning the instruments. It sounds like you are sitting in front of the orchestra.

I wonder what software did you use for this ?

EagleGuard responds:

I think it's your headphone xD But if more people are bothered by it, i'll make the flute a bit softer.

I used Reason 4 to make this.

Thanks for the review.

Open sea ey ?

Same like my other review on your song. This is more ambience then trance, scince you are using again no percussion.

You create an atmosphere that fits your theme. I could imagine this in a flash with sea etc.
I really like how you absolutely swap moods at 0.40. It changes in something completely different. Still you remain in the original theme of your song.

Again I think you should add some ambient percussion. It wouldn't do bad to this.

thanks, im not too musicly inclined
when i was making this I thought of Front Mission 3's SILENCE song.

i wasn't sure where to put the beats in and i couldn't find any i liked, most were too fast to get that awe like feeling of the moment.

To start of, put this in the ambient section instead of techno. This is track is almost pure ambience.

The blend of sounds make it sounds very futuristic. I can't say much about the progression or melody, because its mainly soundeffects placed in an order on the timeline. It's not a dancesong or anything like that, but is enjoyable listening. I could see this in a puzzlegame.

Mastering.
I believe the strings sometimes are a tad to loud. Depends what the purpose was. I gues they could kinda funtion to build up a tention. Altho if not I'd suggest you filtered them. I say to all that make ambience, there is a very nice stereo enhancer preset to make the strings sound better without losing the quality of sound.

I think its to bad you lost percussion after about 3 seconds. I was hoping that it would lose filter and turn into something orgasmic. I think you could make this track insane if you placed a beat on top of this.

In case you bring a beat to this, let me know in a PM when you posted it.

Shishizurui responds:

so i did exactly what i intended then, if this fits a puzzle game because i designed it as Khori's theme as the prosocuter in a phoenix wright game. i'm not good with percussion at all.

with a 2 week time limit on the assignment and 3 other songs that was kinda the best i could do lol.

Ey oh lets review.

You aim for something specific imo. You wanna have a very atmospheric track. Piano and strings :)

I believe to start of you should redo some EQ. The piano is sometimes blurry under the strings, while it should be coming from underneath, loud and bright. I thing what you need to do is remove some reeverb and browse trough some ParametricEQ and Flangus presets and see what is best.

At one point ( lemme check ) at 0.52 you bring in a string, which I think is just raw sytrus. I could be wrong. You should remaster it a bit. Filter the strings so the pitches you which to play come out nicely. Stereo enhancer has a very nice preset for strings to make em sound more atmospheric without losing soundquality.

The melody is nice, good chord progression. Altho imo it gets boring after a while. ofc its sometimes hard to make variation in an ambient track.

Overall this was a pretty decent track, but I don't think you should be posting it yet. Try to bring up some mixersettings that make the song brighter then let me know trough a PM. I'll be glad to send you another review.

Rwinius responds:

wow. See, you people are the reason I come to this site :D thanks a whole bunch, this is something i can work with ^^

the only funny thing is, the synth at .52 is accually the same synth as the one that supports the piano from the beginning, its just a higher octave. I agree though, it just doesnt feel right..

the cut off piano sound is done on purpose, i might clarify it somewhat, but the song is practicly based on that muffled sound :) i like it ^^

ill be honored if you'd review the improved version, which will be up asap..

Me like !

Very long and fluent piece

The melodies sounds like you tried you best to make them perfect. The melodies always go with a nice string or PAD in the back. It gives the song a more " finnished " feeling.
You change instruments now and then, which makes sure that it doesn't get boring. I could listen to this for quit a long time without getting bored.

For the mastering * pluggs in headphone * .
Kick is compressed nicely and clicks well. The short synth could use a bit more EQ imo. Maybe some parametricEQ, and delay. I am always a big fan of love philter, but i'm not sure if it would do good in here. The bass is nice. It hums.
If I were you i'd use a harder clap or add a snaredrum for more variation in percussion. and to make it more powerfull.

Overall this is a very good piece. You obv spend more time on it then I would do on a song.

Alright pop up the review

Like you asked me, here is the review.

You seem to use raw samples, coming from sytrus etc. Try to learn to create your own sounds with VST's. It will make your songs more unique. Altho this is not always easy to do when your still learning to fit the song together.
Using preset sequences is not very hard :)

After that. I think the mastering is decent. The strings come nice over the other sounds.
Some percussion would be nice. some ambient drums in the back would do nice.

If you have any questions involving fruityloops just ask me :)

Box-Killa responds:

haha yeah i did use some raw samples, mainly because i couldnt be bothered editing it. It was kind of like, it already sounded how i wanted it to, so I just left it. Well the bass, I did change that, it's just boo base lol.

yeah the brass is a cool plugin i found from vst planet. :D:D. Thanks for the review, im sure ill find some tough questions to ask you.

Yeah i forgot about drums lol. too late now, or unless I make another song :D

Freaking Pro !!!

Man I always love these orchestral tracks. I wish I knew how to make em. Please you give me some advice what is best to start of with. any suggestions for VST or samples ?

EvilRaccoon responds:

Heya! If you are interested in making then check out the NG audio forums from time to time. People are always talking about cinematic orchestra.

I'll PM you though an indepth message. :D
Thankyou for the review and score!

220 BPM LOOL

Thats intense. Sounds DnB + Metal indeed. The track is pretty repeating, altho it should if used for a flashgame. So no blame to you.

Pm me when the game is up.

Thanks a lot man, I'll be sure to pm you whenever he gets the game out. I'm glad you're not taking anything out on me either for the looping. :P I figured it'd need to loop for usage in a game.

I'll be sure to check out your new track, and thanks for the review! :)
